Meet Helen

When people hear I’m a matchmaker, the first question is always: “How did you get into that?

The Foundation

I have been matching couples for over twenty years, leading to many long-term relationships and marriage. As a wraparound academic counselor for over a decade, my work with children and families gave me a front-row seat into how personality types and compatibility play into life partnership.

The Journey

In 2019, I pivoted to the industry of landscape construction, where I was inspired daily by the partnership of the homeowners I worked with, 99% of whom were married couples. I decided that picking up a side hustle in matchmaking would be a fun way to earn extra cash while developing a pipeline of future homebuyers.

I soon realized that the job was not all fun and excitement; it was a mission field. I began to work with a series of premier matchmaking companies, each employing different methods to serve their target demographic:

  • Three Day Rule serving mostly women 35+ seeking politically liberal Adonises.

  • Two Asian Matchmakers/Matchmaker May serving doctors and corporate executives seeking Asian women.

  • Matchmakers in the City serving celebrities and high-value men and women seeking best-in-class matches.

  • Julie Ferman & Assoc serving mature singles seeking holistic, healed companionship.

  • April Beyer & LEVEL Connections serving matchmakers seeking to build a shared singles network

Through my work with these companies, I conducted hundreds in-depth interviews and coaching sessions with men and women of varying ages, ethnicities, religions, and cities/countries. In pursuit of building Good Hearts Meet, I provided free intakes and coaching to Christian singles, attended singles events, hosted singles workshops, and embarked on a year-long study visiting churches and ministries to examine how they met and served their single adult congregation. I experimented with a variety of pricing structures and models, in my efforts to provide high-caliber matchmaking services at a price point that meets ordinary people where they live.

I could not be more thankful that more people are beginning to share the same dream, supporting community-minded matchmaking and education to help counter the problems that have been created in this space. It has been exciting to see the changes on the horizon and work with amazing, motivated teams in this space!
