Meet Helen
When people hear I’m a matchmaker, the first question is always: “How did you get into that?”
The Foundation
I have been matching couples for over twenty years, leading to many long-term relationships and marriage. As a wraparound academic counselor for over a decade, my work with children and families gave me a front-row seat into how personality types and compatibility play into life partnership.
The Journey
In 2019, I pivoted to the industry of landscape construction, where I was inspired daily by the partnership of the homeowners I worked with, most of whom were married couples. I decided that matchmaking would be a fun way to earn extra cash while developing a pipeline of future homebuyers.
I soon realized that the job was not all fun and excitement - it was a mission field. I began working with a series of premier matchmaking companies, each employing different methods to serve their target demographic.
Three Day Rule serving women 35+ seeking politically liberal Adonises.
Two Asian Matchmakers serving doctors and corporate executives seeking Asian women.
Matchmakers in the City serving celebrities and UHNW men and women seeking best-in-class partners.
Julie Ferman & Associates serving mature singles seeking holistic, healed companionship.
April Beyer & LEVEL Connections serving matchmakers seeking to access a shared singles network.
Through my work with these companies, I conducted hundreds in-depth interviews and coaching sessions with men and women of varying ages, ethnicities, religions, and cities/countries. I saw the shared pain points, the patterns, and the differences between diverse groups.
I knew from the start that I wanted to create an accessible, community-focused version of the services offered by these luxury matchmaking companies. I provided free intakes and coaching to Christian singles, hosted singles workshops, and led a single women’s support group. I also conducted a year-long study visiting local churches and ministries to examine how they met and served their single adult congregation.
With this research, I began to develop curriculum and training resources to help singles date and approach relationships mindfully, holistically, and effectively.
The Need
Our mission at Good Hearts Meet is to help build strong partnerships and families, which in turn leads to strong communities.
To this end, we need help!
Churches, ministries, volunteers, social or community organizations, artists, entrepreneurs... no matter your skill or field of interest/expertise, we need you!
We are creating educational materials, conducting quantifiable research, and using technology to help teach teens, young adults, and couples about healthy relationship skills and the value of marriage.
